I've had a super busy weekend Showjumping. I decided that I would affiliate my three horses for British Showjumping, so I started by taking Frankie to South View for the 1.05m Amateur class. It was nearly 5 months since his last outing but he was an absolute gem. Jumped clear in the first round and an even better clear in the second round, we finished in 10th need to practise these fancy little turns that the show jumpers do in gallop!!!
On Saturday I went back with Florence and Percy for the 85cm Amatuer class. Percy was rather excitable and a bit like riding a bull, he just had a fence down in the jump off. Florence saved the day by jumping a fabulous double clear and loved every minute of it. She finished in 8th and we headed home with our entry fee back in our pocket (minus a portion of chips!!!).
On Sunday I headed off to a Nantwich Riding Club Showjumping competition at Alsager. I took Cherry for the 2'3 and 2'6, she was rather nervous in the first class and ran on abit having three fences down but at least she didn't stop, in the second class she was loads better and much steadier and just had an unlucky 8 faults. Dudley jumped in the 2'6, he does suffer a little with stage freight and had never jumped indoors before and not been out for 5 months but he was super brave, just breaking in to trot a couple of times and rolling a pole but overall I was super impressed with his attitude.
It's now Monday night and I'm just back from South View having just had a jumping lesson with Sue Barrett on Percy, delighted to inform you that the bullish monkey that he was on Saturday has disappeared back in his hole and come out like a little pro.
Overall a busy but fun and productive long weekend. :-)
