At the weekend I took Percy and Florence to Field House for their BE Arena Eventing. Florence felt like she was loving it and jumped a super double clear, despite me almost going the wrong way at one point. But my little error did cost us one time penalty. Sack the jockey!!! Percy also jumped a good double clear, he was really pinging the showjumps. He was 4 seconds under the time but still only finished 8th. There was some speedy hot competition. 😊
What a day!!!! Aren't horses great levellers...last weekend we were on cloud nine and today were booted back down to earth. Not through any fault of our own though. We headed to Myerscough College for the British Dressage Regional Finals at Open Novice. Florence has been going really well but today when we arrived at the warm up arena she had a mini meltdown because there were 13 horses in the warm up area, which is a relatively small space for 5 or 6 let alone 13!!! Anybody that knows Florence has probably seen how she can react when other horses get too close, so this was like her worst nightmare. It's just typical that the arena was so busy for our warm up, earlier in the day there had been 3 or 4 in at any one time and it was the same later on. But for some reason people thought it was expectable to use that arena to school in even if they weren't competing in that class. There were even people that weren't even competing at the show that decided they would bring their horse along for a school. And it's not like they were just having a little trot about, there were some clearly that compete at a much higher level that thought whilst a novice class was going on it would be a perfect time to practise their canter half passes, flying changes and passage!!!!! Poor Florence was beside herself and she wasn't the only one struggling with the atmosphere 🙈 I even went to ask the stewards if this was expectable and they just said they would ask the non competitors to leave if it got too dangerous. Surely their should be limits to how many people can be in the arena at any onetime. The arena did start to quieten down after about 20 minutes but she was still pretty nervous. To be fair when our time came to do our test she did go into the arena and settle quite nicely and did a sweet and accurate test but I just didn't feel we'd had a great warm up to get the best out of her. She came out with a 63.9% which was very disappointing and her worst score ever at a BD competition. Not a good day, it's such a shame because she's been doing so well up until now.
#notahappyBonnie What a great day I had at Field House Equestrian yesterday. They put on a great British Eventing Arena Eventing competition with water, ditches and steps. A 23 fence course in total. My two loved it!!! Easy to enter to using Equo Events, Horse & Hound's online entry system. It was my first outing in my beautiful new Adam Ellis close contact jumping saddle. It was such a pleasure to ride in such a lovely saddle. Both Percy and Florence jumped a speedy double clear to finish 2nd and 3rd in a class of about 20. Percy had great pleasure in telling his sister he'd beaten her as we arrived back at Queen Wendy after the prize giving, which was a rather eventful lap of honour. 🙈 I'm so pleased both horses were on such good form jumped so well as Adam Ellis had come to watch!!! They are both looking and feeling fantastic. Roll on the eventing 😊

My little girl was s good girl at Field House Equestrian for the BD. we did Novice 39 as a warm up for the regionals in a couple of weeks. She did a lovely consistent test for 68.28%. In a strong class we were 5th but that was only 2% off 2nd so all quite close. Then we had our first attempt at Elementary. We did test E45 and scored 66.55% for 2nd overall, but that was behind a gold section rider and I was only a bronze rider. Chuffed to pieces with her for our first attempt. Lots to work on but it's a good start. And lovely to have a visit from Jodi who is the rep for Equo in my area 😊
