So having done lots of little outings with Crosbie, Percy and Florence the time had come for our first event at Stafford Horse Trials. Crosbie went on the Friday for his first ever event and was competing in the BE80. He behaved really well. I was slightly disappointed with his dressage of 40, he then jumped a nice sj round just picking up 4 faults and then flew round the cross country making it feel incredibly easy. Although the following day I discovered they had given him 20 penalties for a slight hesitation at the sunken road, which was very harsh as he had only had a little look but then went, he never stepped backwards, so very disappointed to discover that. The following day Percy and Florence went back for the Open BE90, I had dropped them down to this level to hopefully get a good first run of the season, having started there last year with not such great rounds because of the ground conditions and because they had got shoes on for the first time ever I wanted them to get the best experience possible. They were both on great form and absolutely flew round the event, despite the ground being a little sticky. Florence had a 25 dressage and double clear inside the time for 3rd place and Percy had 28 dressage and double clear also inside the time for 5th place. Absolutely delighted with them all for their first events of the season. Stafford's team of organisers and helpers had put on a couple of fantastic days of competition and were really unlucky to lose the last day due to the weather. Great friendly team and fab prizes 😊
On Saturday I headed to Llanymynech for the BRC Area 20 Combined Training Qualifiers with Percy, Florence and Crosbie. First time for all of them on grass testing out shoes and studs. Lots of positive feedback from them all. Crosbie was doing the Prelim 7 with 75cm jumping. Apart from a few excitable leaps he behaved impeccably on the grass and inside the white boards to lead after dressage by a whole 4 marks on 26.5 but then I think he found the SJ a little small and thought it would be far more fun to take the fences a little quick, long and flat to lower two moving him down to 5th. Percy and Florence were doing the Novice 27 with 85cm jumping and were both on a Nantwich Riding Club Team. Percy did a lovely test for 29.6 but was rather excitable to be jumping on grass and got a little strong and quick at times and picked up 4 faults. Putting him 4th and his team also 4th. Florence was a little star and didn't put a foot wrong all day gaining a 29.8 and a clear SJ for 2nd and her team won. Excellent weekend with fab results. Which also finished up with the same three horses all going xc schooling at Somerford Park in the Sunday. Love fun in the sun 😊 Busy busy day at Reaseheath College playing between the white boards. I had Crosbie in Prelim 15 and he was very grown up about it all just had a couple of green moments for 66.95% good enough for 5th out of 22 only 2% behind the leader. Clever boy. In Novice 22 my 3 went head to head for the very first time. Frankie was up first and had some nice moment in the warm up but then turned slightly neurotic!!! Couldn't blame him, he hadn't been out for 10 months and hadn't travelled on Queen Wendy the Wagon with his brother and sister before. He scored 60.17%...whoopsie 🙈 but I'm just delighted he's back. Percy was up next and certainly didn't disappoint with 66.37%, he shows bags of promise just needs to put it altogether now. Pleased with 4th. Then came Florence and she smashed it!!!! Girl Power!!!! She couldn't do much wrong to win by over 4% on 71.37%....such a princess and certainly put the boys in their place 🏆 Busy day at Southview for their Arena Eventing today. Crosbie went in the 80cm and 90cm. He showjumped fab in the 80 but stopped at the first xc fence, he doesn't quite get it when they switch between the two types of fences but then jumped the rest of the Xc fab, wasn't bothered by the skinnies or water tray. Then in the 90 he had got the idea and popped round just having a couple of unlucky fences down. Percy and Florence both jumped in the 100cm. Percy was first to go in the class and jumped a good double clear, albeit a little keen to lead from the start until his sister, who was last to go in the arena, had to go one better to take top spot knocking little bro into 2nd. Florence was 0.03 seconds off the optimum time and Percy was 1 second off....so close!!! #proudmummy #love2beawinner 🏆🍀😃 Delighted to have received my first delivery of feed from my new sponsors Equerry Horse Feeds. So lucky to have the support of such a great company and very lucky ponies. Thank you Team Equerry 😀 |
