Just home after a long day at the British Eventing jump Training Championships. The day got off to not such a great start. I didn't ride Percy particurly well in the BE90 and we only got a 31 style mark and also picked up 4 faults. Our second round mind was loads better. He was just very green jumping indoors and I rode him too much like a baby. Florence however jumping a cracking couple of rounds. But we had a very unlucky 4 faults. For her style mark we got an amazing 13, which was actually the best style mark of the class so gutted to roll a pole and cost ourselfs first place. We ended up 4th. The highlight of the day was certainly winning the team event, with my two and Ella Heron on her lovely little pony in the BE80. We got some fantastic prizes. Each of us got a lovely Baileys sponsored Thermatex rug and in total I came away with £100 Baileys feed vouchers. £80 BE Training Vouchers. a BS Ticket to Ride and two Blyth Tait xc lessons!!!! The BE team put on a great show and the judges were superb. And thank you to the sponsors Baileys Horse Feeds. Great show guys. Look forward to next year!!!
Here is my latest addition to the string. He is owned by Margaret Spencer and is fresh out of a National Hunt Yard. He ran 3 times in National Hunt flat races and was pretty much last every time. He has come to me in quite poor condition, but after just two weeks on the spring grass he is starting to look better. He has a very sweet laid back nature and has settled in very well. There is something about this horse which excites me. He seems very trainable and is quick to pick up new things. Watch this space. Go to my video page to see his first jumping experience at mine Today I finally got to my first event of the season. Quite scary to be going straight out for an Intermediate, but we survived. Frankie behaved like a true professional, it was me that let him down slightly!!!! The dressage went particularly smoothly for a fantastic score of 29.6, this was our best ever Intermediate score and put us 6th after dressage, ahead of some really big names including Mary King, Mark Todd and Ruth Edge. Next it was the showjumping and I let Frankie down a bit. We had 2 fences down, which wouldn't have been too bad, but I think I must have stopped for a picnic on the way round picking up 6 time penalties which was really frustrating!!! XC was fantastic, having a super ride with no errors for a clear round with only 10.8 time penalties. Overall we finished 13th, again staying ahead of some big names which is always an achievement. If I hadn't stopped for that picnic in the showjumping I would have been well in the top 10. Hind sight is a fabulous thing...lol. Overall not a bad first run of the season, I just need to get myself into gear in the showjumping.
I had to do my first collection off a stallion at work today (Stallion AI Services). I can safely say it was an experience!!! The stallion in question is quite a famous showjumping stallion, Libra K. He was a very good boy and didn't stamp on me in the process...lol.
