On Friday I headed to Kelsall Hill with Crosbie aka Lislee Rock for the BE90. He was an absolute pleasure all day, still showing a few green moments in his dressage but much improved for a 28.3. Show jumping he gave me a fabulous ride, still needs to settle a bit in his head but lovely rythem and lovely clear. On to xc where I knew there were a couple of fences that may just back him off and I may need to ride stronger at, but he proved me wrong by cruising round the course with no hesitation's. Delighted to finish up in 6th place.
And it was also Florence's 9th Birthday on Friday. Where does time go.
On Saturday I had a day at home to prepare for Sunday's outing back to Kelsall Hill with my two homebred horses. This is where things got emotional. As I got Percy out the box to work he didn't appear to be quite right. And sure enough on trotting him up I discovered he wasn't. It's so depressing when we are all set to go and something like this happens. He's been on top form lately and jumping out of this world, so I was really looking forward to taking him eventing. I'm still not sure what he's done but he's resting and and having a few days off and then I will give him a trot up again and see if there's any improvement. I'm hoping it's something very minor that he's done playing in the field. He is a big kid.
So on Sunday Florence and I headed to Kelsall Hill alone, leaving Percy at home. I was feeling quite sad because my horses mean so much to me and it's horrible when one isn't quite right. But Florence put a smile back on my face in the Open BE100 by pulling a 26 dressage out of the bag, followed by a double clear to finish in 4th place. Such a good girl.
Ciara Doone Rush Photography came to capture us for the day and got some super shots of us. I haven't seen them all yet but I have shared what I have seen with you. She is available for B*Spoke Eventing Packages and I can't recommend her enough, she is such a lovely person to have around and captures some beautiful behind the scenes shots which are always missed but are so special.
