❄️I think a good place to start is with what you put in your four legged friends bellies. I’m lucky that mine tend to be pretty good doers but I do love to feed them a nice warm Equerry Mash. It smells great and they love it.
❄️Next up is something nice and warm for me. I’ve got to admit I’m a huge fan of my winter outfit from Shires consisting of the Aubrion Greydock fleece lined winter breeches and Aubrion Highwood mid length riding coat.
❄️And next on my list is something yummy to help beat boredom for the horses when they are having a duvet day to stay out of the grim weather. Horslyx certainly ticks this box with their yummy licks, keeping the horses entertained whilst ensuring they are getting all those important vitamins and minerals.
❄️Now I’m moving on to helping myself save time and make my life easier whilst mucking out my 7 friends. For this I turn to Concord Equestrian Straw Pellets and the JFC enormous tipping wheelbarrow. Between these I can almost get all the horses mucked out into one load!!!
❄️How about those days when the horses go out in the morning and its all lovely and dry only to be caught out by the great British weather and end up stood in a monsoon!!! For this you’ll be needing a fancy ExcelClad shelter, mine make full use of theirs. Perfect for shelter from the chilly winds too.
❄️Next I’m thinking about keeping them in tip top shape whilst coming back into work when they can get achey muscles. Auntie Lesley from Northwest Veterinary Physiotherapy pays us regular visits to ensure they are feeling great.
❄️When it starts getting really cold and we are getting several hard frosts I am eternally grateful for my Equestrian Direct Flexiride Surface that loves the challenge and never freezes and loves the rain.
❄️When the horses first come back into work I spend many an hour walking around the lanes, this is where my Adam Ellis Bonnie Event Saddle is a life saver, it’s so comfy you wouldn’t know you’d been sat in it for hours.
❄️How about those days when the horses need bathing but it’s chilly and you feel cruel using cold water? The @hydrotherm comes in useful here giving the horses nice warm water instead.
❄️Another tool now for making your life easier when you have to do a job that isn’t at the top of the list of favourites. Clipping!!!! I love the range of clippers from Masterclip Clippers UK. My personal favourite is the heavy duty V-series, so easy and light to use.
❄️Now for some absolute essentials that I couldn’t be without. In no particular order we have nappies, Thomas Pettifer Green Oils and Soap ‘n’ Glory Heel Genius. Nappies for the many poultices that you might find yourself doing with the soggy wet horrible ground causing abscesses, saves you a fortune on Animalintex. The Thomas Pettifer Green Oils is my go to for most things and is amazing at helping keep on top of mud fever, it’s my little miracle in a tub. Then the Heel Genius from Soap ‘n’ Glory is supposed to be for feet but I randomly discovered that it is AMAZING at keeping your hands lovely and soft having been in mud, water and cold all day.
❄️And finally in my winter survival kit I come to a little treat for me. What better then coming in from the cold or wet and sorting down to your favourite hot chocolate drink from Harry's Milkshake & Hot Chocolate, my personal favourite being the orange flavour!!!!
