I’m sure most of you are like, well that sounds simple enough 🤷🏼♀️true, it does. But first I had to get things organised which meant horses in at 5.30am, brushed and ready load up on Queen Wendy the Wagon. Then before I could head off I had to get Ted up, changed and fed. Harriet up, fed and changed. Feed myself. Hand Teddy over to Granny. Drive Harriet to nursery which is a 40 minute round trip. Now I can set off to Tushingham.
First up was Percy, he has got a little bit cheeky at home in the last 6 months so I had no idea how he would feel about a competition environment but he was a saint, he completely got into the zone and flew round double clear to take first place out of 17. He had such a fun time. I’m not going to say it was the prettiest round we’ve done but I certainly had more control then I did a week ago when I jumped him schooling 😂 very proud of him 💙
On to Florence who I fell off on Monday and am still bearing a rather bruised leg from landing on a pole 🙈 but after giving myself a little get a grip talk we went in and flew round double clear in a very similar time to Percy but in the open section for 3rd place. Again not the prettiest of rounds but I’m a little out of practise after having 9 months off from jumping with covid and having baby Ted.
So all in all not a bad day. I won last time out in July and won first time out this season 👍🏼 But I have to say it’s all a bit surreal in these testing covid times, it’s odd just turning up, not really being able to chat like you normally would with friends, or not having any prize givings, not bringing away any rosettes or prize money. I’m very grateful to be able to jump but I will be happy when things can go back to what we know as the norm!!! So home we went, with nothing to show for our successful trip. Not even any videos or jumping photos.
My mammoth day didn’t end there, I had to poopick the paddocks, collect some fencing and feed bowls up from the winter fields, skip out 6 stables and turn the horses out. Feed Ted. Do a food shop. And go on the nursery run. Feeling a little shattered now. None of this would have been possible though without the help of Mummy Fishburn aka Granny. If it wasn’t for her help looking after Ted I wouldn’t have been able to do it. Thanks Granny 😘💗
