Today I finally got to my first event of the season. Quite scary to be going straight out for an Intermediate, but we survived. Frankie behaved like a true professional, it was me that let him down slightly!!!! The dressage went particularly smoothly for a fantastic score of 29.6, this was our best ever Intermediate score and put us 6th after dressage, ahead of some really big names including Mary King, Mark Todd and Ruth Edge. Next it was the showjumping and I let Frankie down a bit. We had 2 fences down, which wouldn't have been too bad, but I think I must have stopped for a picnic on the way round picking up 6 time penalties which was really frustrating!!! XC was fantastic, having a super ride with no errors for a clear round with only 10.8 time penalties. Overall we finished 13th, again staying ahead of some big names which is always an achievement. If I hadn't stopped for that picnic in the showjumping I would have been well in the top 10. Hind sight is a fabulous thing...lol. Overall not a bad first run of the season, I just need to get myself into gear in the showjumping.
