I headed to Draycott House on Saturday with Florence for the BE100. She was in a really funny mood for her and seemed out to get everyone that came to close to her but despite that she pulled a 30 dressage out of the bag, jumped an awesome show jumping clear and then went on for a clear in the time cross country. I couldn't wait to see how I'd got on as I didn't go Xc til gone 5pm and I'd got a 2 hour drive home and was supposed to be at a black tie do by 7.30, as you can imagine I didn't make it on time but was there by 8.30 in time to sit down for the meal. Not bad going. I did get a phone call from my old boss, Jocelyn Riley, to tell me I'd won my section and that she had won hers, but I struggled to believe it until I saw the results go up online on Sunday evening....one very happy Bonnie!!!
I took Dudley to Berriewood for a cross country schooling session today. He was really brave at first but then we had a little wobble at a ditch, which made him question some of the other fences we came across, but by the end of our session he jumped round the entire BE80 without question, chuffed to bits with him, so much so that he is entered in an express eventing competition on Sunday!!!
I had a great weekend at Brand Hall. Frankie did the International CIC*. He did a pleasent dressage test, could just do with a bit more sparkle now (and his mum to halt in the right place at the end of the test). Scored 51.1. Show jumping was causing lots of trouble and actually only 4 jumped clear in the section, unfortunately I wasn't one of them. I saw a long stride into the combination and had the last part down and two time penalties. He jumped a lovely clear Xc with 2 time penalties to land him in 8th position. Our best International placing to date.
Percy did the BE90, he warmed up the best he's ever gone for his dressage but got a little tense in the arena scoring35.5, which doesn't sound great but actually in the section that was lying 9th so not a bad score, the judge was just marking quite hard. He went on to jump double clear, finding the Xc very straight forward. This moved us up into 5th position. That's what I call a good weekend in the office!!!! |
